What’s in it for my group/clients/members/me?
Helping people effectively communicate with GPs is important as they are the gatekeepers to the rest of the NHS and some of the skills learned in the course can be used in other areas of life. Participants will become more empowered and knowledgeable and able to make the most of their appointment time (5-10 mins) with their GP/healthcare professional.
If I’m an individual can I still attend this training?
Yes, we are also collecting contact details of those individuals who wish to do the training, if there are a minimum of 8 people we will run this session.
How do I apply?
Simply email Claire Stevens at: claire@cvsectorforum.org.uk or call 01273 810 234/5. If we receive too many requests for this session we will prioritise groups such as disability, LGBT, mental health, domestic violence, older people etc as traditionally these groups can be disempowered. We will do our best to provide as many sessions as our resources allow.
Why is the LINk doing this?
This is part of a pilot piece of work to empower patients in primary care through training and information. It is the brainchild of Claire Stevens who wanted to do something practical to help patients in memory of a patient who sadly lost her life when her GP turned her away without treatment or diagnosis.
