The LINk has heard from some people that they feel they have to wait too long for physiotherapy. Let us know if you have experienced this.

Physiotherapy
Helps and treats people of all ages with physical problems caused by illness, accident or ageing through improving the movements of the muscles, joints and limbs.

Physiotherapists are healthcare professionals who have trained specifically in physiotherapy. They work in a number of different places including:

  • hospitals
  • GP surgeries
  • private practices
  • workplaces
  • community.

Occupational Therapy (OT)
Assessment and treatment of physical and psychiatric conditions using specific, purposeful activity to prevent disability and promote independent function in all aspects of daily life.

Occupational Therapists (OTs) work with a range of people including those who have physical, mental and/or social problems, either from birth or as the result of accident, illness or ageing and are aware of the impact that change in circumstances can have on individuals' independence and confidence. Watch a video about OT here.

Occupational Therapists provided by Brighton and Hove City Council  aim to support adults and older people who have a physical disability to remain independent and safe in their own homes.
